New ATC Technique Shown at VAL Workshop
Thirteen participants took part in the ATC workshop on September 19th at the VAL Gallery.
Quail Valley Child Development Center was well represented and led by their center director, Ms. Henri May. I hope what's learned at this workshop helps the students at the Center.
Other ATC participants were Liz Munoz, Sharon Giles, Olivia Stokowski, Dawn McCauley, Jane Graf, Joyce Tremethick, Joe Seiler, April Seiler, Emily Seiler, Wanda Grice, Ashley Eguia and Jaime Taylor. Tommy Smith was there documenting the event. Thank you to all the participants for spending part of their saturday at VAL. Everyone seemed to have a great time, too!
During the workshop, I presented different ways to make ATC's and I highlighted a technique that I use quite a bit. I took a large piece of railroad board 22 x 24 inches, gessoed it then had different ATC participants squeegee different colors on the board. After the large sheet was covered with the quick drying thin layer of acrylic, I placed 2.5" x 3.5" grids on the back, cut it, dated it and then numbered each individual ATC: 1/64, 2/64, 3/64...then distributed three ATC's to the attendees for them to place images on them or just keep them for trading later. This technique is useful in placing a colorful background (ground) on the ATC's plus it gives you over 60+ prepared ATC's. It's a quick and easy way to make ATC's.
A big thank you to Joe Seiler for his efforts in inviting new participants to the workshop. Stay tuned for a ATC trading session in the near future. Please check the blog for the upcoming free ATC workshops at the VAL Gallery. The next ATC workshop is on Nov. 21 from 12 to 2 pm.
